SHAREWARE VERSIONS
All SHAREWARE versions of Lotto Master Pro releases are full and
complete versions of the program, and are furnished with complete
documentation. Nothing has been left out and no features have
been disabled or crippled. However, as an incentive for the user
to register, we issue a program to SHAREWARE only after a new
version has been developed. This means that any SHAREWARE
version is a least one release behind the registered version.
When the user registers his program with JPM COMPUTER, and pays
the registration fee, he receives a copy of the latest version of
the program and an up-to-date data module of the lotto history of
his choice (if available). He is also guaranteed to receive
advance notification of, and substantial discounts for, future
new releases of the program. The registration form is located on
the last page of the User's Guide (file LM.DOC on disk), and the
registration fee is $49.95.
If you like this program, you will like the registered version
even more.
DATA MODULES
This SHAREWARE version of Lotto Master Professional comes
furnished with the history data for the California 6/49 lotto.
The information is accurate but, by the time the user gets the
program, probably not complete. If you are playing the
California game then you will need to update the data module to
bring it current. Information on past games can be obtained, in
any state, by contacting the state lottery office nearest you.
In some cases, as in California, a hot-line has been set up to
supply this data. The California hot-line number is 976-4CSL.
If you are playing a game other than California, then you will
need to go through the game setup procedure explained below and
in the User's Guide. Registered users of the program receive the
data module for the game of their choice.
WORKING COPIES AND BACK-UPS
When you receive your program disk, immediately make a working
copy and store the original away in a safe place. DO NOT RUN THE
ORIGINAL!! The working copy should contain only the program and
data files; do not copy the documentation files. It is also
strongly recommended that you back up your working copy to a
'working backup disk' on a regular basis so that if data
corruption should occur the damaged files can be replaced with a
reasonably current copy.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Always save the LOTTO.CFG file with your other data files when
backing up and/or restoring data. If your history or bet
displays start showing too few records after a restore, or if you
start seeing zeros where no data should exist, it means that you
have failed to do this and you will have to manually re-enter the
missing records, or delete the records showing zeros, as the case
may be.
READ THE DOCUMENTATION
The User's Guide supplied with LOTTO MASTER PRO explains the many
features of the program. Pay particular attention to the
explanation of the statistical functions.
START-UP INFORMATION --------------------
Booting Your System:
Insert your DOS system disk and turn on your computer. Enter the
date and time if asked. When you see the DOS prompt on the
screen and the disk drive light has gone off, type the following
command: PROMPT $P$G and press the enter key. When the disk
drive light has gone off, remove the system disk. NOTE: It is
not absolutely necessary to use the PROMPT $P$G command, but it
is good practice. This command causes the DOS prompt to always
display the name of the current directory. It is a good idea to
place this command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on your system disk
so that it will be automatically installed for you each time you
boot your system.
Single Floppy System:
To run LOTTO MASTER PRO on a single floppy disk system, using the
data files for the lotto game supplied with the program, place
the working copy of the program disk in drive A and from the A:>
prompt, type LM and press enter. The program will load and run.
If you wish to start a new game for which data does not yet
exist, then your working program disk should contain only the
files LM.EXE and the four files ending in .OBJ. Use the DOS
COPY command to copy these files from your master program disk to
your working program disk. When you run your working program
disk for the first time, the program will ask for configuration
information for the game and will then create the data file
shells that you will need.
Dual Floppy System:
To run the program on a dual-floppy disk system, using the data
files for the lotto game supplied with the program, you must
first copy the data files from the program disk to a separate
data disk. To do this, place the program disk in drive A, and a
fresh formatted disk in drive B. From the A:> prompt, type the
following commands:
copy *.REC B: <ENTER>
copy *.DAT B: <ENTER>
copy *.CFG B: <ENTER>
The data files will be transferred to your working data disk.
After transfer is complete, label your working data disk to
identify the lottery information that it contains. To run the
program, the working copy of the program disk should be in drive
A, and the data disk in drive B. Make the B drive current by
typing and entering the following: b: <ENTER>. Now, from the B:>
prompt type PATH A: <ENTER>. Then type in and enter 'LM'. The
program will load and run.
If you are starting a brand new game for which no data files
exist, then no files need first be copied to drive B. Simply
insert the working program disk in drive A, a blank formatted
disk in drive B, make drive B current, enter the path command
described above, and type LM to run the program. The first time
the program is run it will ask for configuration information and
will then create the necessary data files on drive B.
When running on a two-drive system, remember to start the program
from the B drive and to use the path command each time you run
the program. If you wish, you can automate this procedure by
creating the following batch file on drive A. (NOTE: <ENTER>
means to press the <ENTER> key. Do not type in the word <ENTER>
in the batch file.
copy con runlm.bat <ENTER>
echo off <ENTER>
cls <ENTER>
path a: <ENTER>
b: <ENTER>
lm <ENTER>
Now press F6 and <ENTER> to save the batch file. Now, instead of
starting Lotto Master Pro from the B drive, you can start from
the A drive by typing and entering RUNLM. The B drive will be
made current, the path command will be issued, and the program
will load and run.
Hard Drive System:
Basically, to use the program on a hard drive system, using the
data files for the lotto game supplied with the program, copy
the entire program disk to a directory on your hard drive, make
that directory current, and type LM to run the program.
Alternatively, you can create one directory to hold the program
files (LM.EXE and the four .OBJ files), and a seperate directory
for the data files of each lotto game that you play (The data
files include all of the .REC files, all of the .DAT files, and
the LOTTO.CFG file). To run the program using these seperate
dir- ectories, place your Lotto Master program directory in the
path by using the DOS path command: For instance, if your program
files are in a directory called LMP, type PATH C:\LMP <ENTER>.
Then make your lotto data directory current by using the DOS CD
command (example: CD C:\FLORIDA). Now from the FLORIDA directory,
type in and enter LM. The program will load and run. New games
can be created using the same procedure. Simply establish a
directory on which to create the new data files, place the
program directory in the path by using the PATH command, and
call up the program from the new directory by typing and entering
LM. The program will ask for configuration information and will
then create the new data file shells.
NOTE: if you have any questions about how to use the DOS commands
mentioned, such as those for creating directories, establishing
paths, changing directories, etc., review the DOS manual that
came with your system.
All Systems:
Remember! Do not mix data from different games on the same
floppy disk or hard-drive directory, not even for different
games of the same state; i.e Florida 6/49 and Florida 5/39. Each
game must reside on its own disk or directory.
OTHER INFO
It is not mentioned in the User's Guide, but the ESC key can now
be used to get you out of ANYTHING.
Lotto Master Pro now has full date sorting capability and input
error checking. The program will not let you put a duplicate
date into the history file and new input is automatically sorted
before saving.
SPECIAL NOTE ON PICK-5 LOTTOS
The capability of managing Pick-5 lotto games was added to
accomodate users in Florida. Lotto Master Pro's built-in
wheeling capability will presently work only on Pick-6 games but
otherwise all program features are available for Pick-5. A new
version of the program is under development that will expand the
total wheeling capability and make all wheels available to
Pick-5. As a registered user (don't forget to mail in the form
at the back of the User's Guide), you will receive this new
release as well as notification of future new releases when they
become available.
Enjoy the program, and let us know of your successes.
